Khaberni - Spotify, the music streaming and podcast service, announced an increase in the prices of its premium subscriptions, with the increase starting from one dollar to two dollars for all subscribers, starting from February next year. This increase includes individual, student, Duo, and Family packages.
According to what was published by the Engadget website, which specializes in technology news, subscribers in the United States, Estonia, and Latvia will soon receive an email notifying them of the details of the increase, which aims to "reflect the value that Spotify provides" and "continue to offer the best possible experience" and "support artists".
New Prices for Subscribers
Individual subscription: 13 dollars per month instead of 12 dollars.
Student subscription: 7 dollars per month instead of 6 dollars.
Duo package: About 19 dollars instead of 17 dollars.
Family package: About 22 dollars instead of 20 dollars.
With this step, Spotify continues to fund musical content while continuing to offer enhanced services to its users around the world.
Despite this increase, Spotify had stated last year that it paid 10 billion dollars to music rights holders in 2024.
However, the company faced a protest by some Grammy-nominated songwriters who boycotted the award ceremony it hosted, protesting what they described as diminishing returns they receive for playing their work on the platform.
These developments illustrate the difficult balance Spotify is trying to maintain between providing an excellent experience for subscribers and ensuring fair compensation for artists.
