Khaberni - Sadness blanketed social media in Jordan after the announcement of the death of three young men who succumbed to their injuries from a horrific traffic accident that occurred on the road to the Al Omari border last Tuesday, involving several vehicles.
The spokesperson for the General Security Directorate had earlier reported that the civil defense and police in the governorate of Mafraq dealt with a massive collision involving 11 vehicles in the Al Omari area, which initially resulted in one death and 18 injuries, before the death toll later rose to three.
The victims' colleagues mourned the young men through poignant posts, with one writing: «On my behalf and on behalf of my colleagues at the Al Omari border center, we mourn the death of our young colleague Sakhr Al-Sharafat, who passed away to the mercy of God following a regrettable traffic accident», adding farewell words for his deceased colleagues Fadi Al-Samadi and Imran Khamis Al-Fahaili.
Regarding the accident’s details, one of the affected, who was driving a bus carrying 10 employees from the governorate of Zarqa towards the Al Omari border, recounted that he was surprised by dense dust covering the road. Upon reaching the accident scene involving several vehicles, he managed to stop before being hit from behind by a truck, resulting in substantial damage to the bus and the death of one passenger.
He mentioned that the truck driver could not see the road clearly due to the intense dust, while the other vehicles suffered varying injuries and damages, describing the accident as horrific and dangerous.
For its part, the Public Security confirmed the detention of the truck driver responsible for the accident and initiated a traffic investigation to determine its causes, while the injured were treated and transported to Zarqa Government Hospital for medical care.
