Khaberni - The Iranian "Tasnim" agency reported that the security forces have arrested about 3,000 people from groups accused of terrorism and involvement in armed riots that occurred in several provinces recently.
The reports indicated that the security campaigns targeted leaders of armed groups in the provinces of Kerman, Kermanshah, Golestan, and Hormozgan, where suspects were detained and large quantities of weapons and explosives were seized.
Kerman Province
In Kerman, the province’s police chief, Colonel Akbar Najafi, announced the arrest of 5 individuals accused of "sabotage," after they targeted a fuel station and a base for mobilization forces. He added that authorities seized quantities of flammable materials from them.
South of the country
In the south, the police chief of Hormozgan, Ali Akbar Javidan, reported the arrest of a cell composed of 10 people (8 men and two women) due to riotous acts in the city of Bandar Abbas. They seized 65 Molotov bottles, 25 batteries, two firearms, a satellite signal receiver, and materials used in making hand grenades.
Kermanshah
"Tasnim" quoted the governor of Kermanshah, Manouchehr Habibi, saying that the detainees in the province were carrying firearms, radios, and homemade grenades. He described the events as “not ordinary protests, but organized operations,” confirming that the armed groups aimed “to cause a large number of casualties.”
Northern Iran
In northern Iran, police in Golestan province announced the dismantling of a "organizational den" in the city of Azadshahr, and the arrest of one of the main leaders of the armed riots. The suspect confessed to executing attacks using swords and Molotov bottles, and even admitted to "firing directly at civilians and security forces."
The authorities indicated that the damage to public property — including the district governor's office, banks, ATMs, and stores — exceeded 100 billion tomans.
In another operation, "one of the most dangerous armed terrorists" in the province was arrested, based on intelligence and cooperation from citizens, after he had been spreading "terror and fear" through threats directed at civilians.
