Khaberni - Ariana Afghan Airlines, the national Afghan airline, announced the signing of a contract to lease a cargo plane for transporting commercial goods to India.
The company's public relations management stated that its official spokesperson, Ayatollah Zaki, confirmed that the plane would soon arrive in Kabul, indicating that the lease was signed with a company based in the United Arab Emirates.
Zaki said: "The UAE company we contracted with is called 'Serblex', and the plane can transport 16.5 tons of goods per flight. Leasing this aircraft will play a significant role in developing trade and exports between Afghanistan and India."
He added that commercial shipping operations are currently limited to the Kabul - New Delhi line, but the service could be expanded to include other countries when needed. Zaki noted that this is "the first time in Afghanistan's history that Ariana Afghan Airlines has leased a cargo plane specifically to stimulate trade with India."
He explained that the rental costs would be covered by the company's own resources, saying: "This plane has been leased for six months, with a monthly payment of $240,000 from the company's budget. During this period, arrangements to acquire three additional planes, which the company has promised, are expected to be completed."
