Khaberni - The Public Security Directorate spokesman stated that the investigation team charged with following up on the investigation into the robbery incident at a bank branch in Mafraq Governorate managed to conclude the investigation and arrest the perpetrators, seizing a large part of the stolen amount, the firearm, and the used vehicle.
In detail, a report was received by the Mafraq Police Directorate yesterday morning after two unknown masked individuals entered one of the banks in Mafraq Governorate and stole 16,000 dinars under the threat of a weapon and fled the scene in a vehicle that was in their possession.
The spokesman added that a special investigative team consisting of the Criminal Investigation Department, Mafraq Police, Preventive Security, and Forensic Laboratories was formed, and investigations began in the case to identify the perpetrators involved.
He confirmed that through the investigation and collection of information from the crime scene and its tracking, the investigation team managed to identify two suspects quickly, determining their location, and conducted a raid on them, resulting in their arrest.
He noted that upon investigation, the suspects confessed to planning and committing the bank branch robbery, with a large part of the stolen amount seized in their possession, as well as capturing the used firearm ('pump action' shotgun) and the vehicle they had.
The spokesman continued that the case would be referred to the judiciary as soon as all investigations are concluded, indicating that the penalty for this crime could reach up to 15 years in prison.
