Trump threatens to confront Minneapolis protests with the Insurrection Act

Khaberni - The American President Donald Trump threatened to resort to the "Insurrection Act", which allows him to deploy forces, "to put an end" to the protests taking place in Minneapolis, amid ongoing protests against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in the city.

Trump's threat came after a federal trooper shot a man in the leg in Minneapolis last Wednesday, following an attack with a snow shovel and a broom handle.

The incident fueled fear and anger throughout the city, a week after an immigration officer shot a woman in the head, causing her death.
Trump has repeatedly threatened to use this federal law - rarely invoked - to deploy military forces or subject the National Guard to the authority of local law enforcement, despite objections from state governors.
