Khaberni - The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz said in front of the Security Council on Thursday that Washington stands with the "brave Iranian people", and that President Donald Trump "made it clear that all options are on the table to stop the massacre".
Trump has repeatedly threatened to intervene to support the protesters in Iran, where reports indicate that thousands have been killed in a crackdown on anti-government protests.
However, Trump has adopted a wait-and-see approach, saying he has been informed that the killings have subsided and he believes there is currently no plan for widespread executions.
Axios reported on Thursday evening, citing sources, that Trump has postponed making a decision regarding a military strike on Iran, while consultations are ongoing within the White House and with U.S. allies about the timing of any potential operation, and whether it would actually destabilize the Iranian regime, according to five informed U.S., Israeli, and Arab sources.
Waltz stated in a Security Council meeting convened by Washington, "President Trump is a man of action, not just endless talk as we see at the United Nations. He made it clear that all options are on the table to stop the massacre."
Waltz denied Iran's claims that the protests are "a foreign conspiracy leading up to military action".
He added, "The whole world must understand that the regime is weaker than ever, and therefore, they promote this lie because of the strength of the Iranian people in the streets. They are afraid, afraid of their own people."
