About 3 billion dinars cost of energy projects as governmental investment opportunities

Khaberni - The government estimated the total cost of the energy sector projects at approximately 3 billion dinars, distributed across a group of projects targeting the upgrade and expansion of the energy sector infrastructure, expanding exploration of national resources, and accelerating the energy transition towards a sustainable and low-carbon system, as part of public-private partnership projects.

According to the details, the projects within the initiative to update and expand the energy sector infrastructure included the project of laying a gas pipeline to link the Risha gas field with the Arab gas pipeline at an estimated cost of 700 million dinars, in addition to the project of delivering natural gas to the cities of Amman and Zarqa at a cost of 390 million dinars.

The sector also included the project of establishing two electric power stations with a combined cycle system with a capacity of 700 megawatts each, at an estimated cost of 1 billion dinars.

In the context of expanding the exploration of national energy resources, the program included the project of exploration and drilling for oil in the northern Risha and eastern Safawi areas at an estimated cost of 50 million dinars.

Within the initiative of coordinating between the energy sectors and managing and planning demand, the sector included the project of electric energy storage by pumping water near Wadi Mujib dam with an absorbing capacity of 450 megawatts, at an estimated cost of 461 million dinars.

In the context of accelerating the energy transition towards a sustainable and low-carbon system, the projects included the wind energy project with a capacity of 100 megawatts at a cost of 100 million dinars, the storage project by batteries with a capacity of 400 megawatts/hour at a cost of 100 million dinars, in addition to the photovoltaic solar energy project with a total capacity of 200 megawatts at an estimated cost of 140 million dinars.
