Khaberni - The Department of Statistics released the preliminary results of the economic indicators survey (hatcheries survey) for the third quarter of 2025, which indicated an increase in the quantity of broiler chicken produced by 13% in 2025 compared to the year 2024, where the production quantity reached 118.7 million tons compared to 105 million tons in 2024,
The results showed a decrease in the quantity of table eggs produced, amounting to 332 million eggs in 2025 compared to 2024, which had 349 million eggs, a decrease of (4.8%),
The results also indicated an increase in the quantity of hatching eggs by 16.7%, where the quantity reached 122.0 million eggs in 2025 compared to 104.6 million eggs in 2024.
The results showed an increase in the number of chicks in broiler hatcheries by 3.6%, where the number of chicks reached 70.2 million in 2025 compared to 67.8 million in 2024. However, the number of chicks in layer hatcheries decreased by (20.4%) in 2025, reaching 2.2 million chicks, whereas it was 2.7 million chicks in 2024.
The results also showed a decrease in the number of chicks in grandparent hatcheries, amounting to 375 thousand chicks in 2025 while it was 419 thousand chicks in 2024, with a decrease rate of (10.5%).
The results revealed a decrease in the prices of broiler chicken by (4.0%) during 2025 compared to 2024, where the price of broiler chicken reached 1.2 dinar/kg (producer prices) in 2025 compared to 1.25 dinar/kg for the same period of 2024, likewise the price of table eggs was 75 fils/egg in 2025 and 71 fils/egg in 2024 which is an increase of 5.6%, the results also showed an increase in the price of hatching eggs by 12.8% as the price of hatching eggs reached 212 fils/egg in 2025 compared to 188 fils/egg in 2024.
The results showed a decrease in the price of broiler chicks by (11.4%) where the price of broiler chicks was 271 fils/chick in 2025 and 306 fils/chick in 2024, while the price of layer chicks increased by 34.7% reaching 454 fils/chick in 2025 compared to 337 fils/chick in 2024, however, the price of grandparent chicks increased by 6.86% where the price of grandparent chicks in 2025 was approximately 4.83 dinar/chick while it was 4.52 dinar/chick in 2024.
It is worth mentioning that the Livestock Statistics Section conducts the hatcheries survey through four rounds during the year, where hatchery numbers are adopted to calculate the quantities of broiler chicken, table eggs, and hatching eggs for comparison with the estimates in cooperation with the National Accounts Project.
According to the statistics, a comprehensive survey is conducted on the hatcheries, totaling (62) hatcheries.
