Khaberni - Los Angeles police arrested Canadian-British actor Kiefer Sutherland, star of the series 24, after he assaulted a driver from a ride-sharing service, according to local authorities.
The police said that the incident occurred in the Hollywood area just after midnight, where security patrols responded to a report of an assault inside a transport vehicle. An official statement explained that initial investigations showed that the suspect entered the car and assaulted the driver, in addition to making criminal threats against him.
The police added that Sutherland, who is 59 years old, was released a few hours after his arrest, upon paying a bail of 50,000 dollars, and is scheduled to appear in court on February 2nd.
The authorities confirmed that the driver was not injured severely enough to require hospitalization or medical treatment, and there was no immediate comment from the actor’s representatives on the inquiries.
Sutherland is one of the prominent stars of American television, globally known for his portrayal of Agent Jack Bauer in the series 24, which was widely successful between 2001 and 2010. He has also appeared in several notable films, including The Lost Boys, Stand By Me, and The Three Musketeers.
It is noted that Kiefer Sutherland is the son of veteran actor Donald Sutherland, who passed away in 2024, and is considered one of the prominent names in the history of global cinema.
