Calls to Stop Broadcasting The Distant City After Shocking Scene Did the Series Cross the Red Lines

Khaberni - The Turkish series "The Distant City" faces a significant wave of criticism on social media after airing its forty-fifth episode last Monday evening due to a scene described by many as "shocking" and "inappropriate".

The main criticism arose from scenes that the audience found shocking and contrary to social values, notably the presence of the child "Gihan" at a table where the protagonists were consuming alcoholic beverages in front of him, in addition to being forced to sing, which sparked widespread reactions on social platforms.

Many followers considered that some events of the series, especially those related to family relationships, do not align with the sensitivity of society, confirming that some scenes involving unnatural relationships and the appearance of children in contexts contrary to values could negatively affect families and society.

A number of users called on the media regulatory authority (RTÜK) to intervene and review the content of the series, considering that television holds a social responsibility towards viewers, especially children and families, while others demanded a complete halt to the broadcast of the series until its content is reassessed.

It is worth mentioning that the series "The Distant City" (Uzak Şehir) continues to break records, achieving the highest viewership ratings in the history of Turkish drama to date. The second season stars include Ozan Akbaba, Sinem Onsal, Gunga Gilason, Atakan Ozkaya, Sera Sas, Nazmi Kırık, Dilin Dogur, and Mufit Kayacan, while Gulizar Irmak handled the scriptwriting and Ahmed Katiksiz directed the work.
