Khaberni - A 6-year-old girl died after being severely beaten by her father and his second wife, in a shocking incident that took place in Uttar Pradesh, northern India.
According to police data, the incident occurred in the Dasna area of Ghaziabad city, where the girl, named Shifa, was playing in one of the neighborhood’s streets on Sunday, before accidentally slipping into a water drain, resulting in her clothes getting dirty.
Upon her return home, her father and his wife violently beat her as a punishment, then left her on the rooftop of the house in the cold.
The police added that the girl passed away on Monday morning, before neighbors reported the incident after suspecting foul play, prompting security forces to the scene, and the body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy.
For her part, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Priya Shri Bal, said that the forensic report revealed the presence of 13 separate injuries on the girl's body, including broken ribs and internal bleeding (hematoma), confirming she was subjected to severe torture before her death.
The authorities confirmed the arrest of the father and his wife, and investigations have commenced with them on charges of murder.
The preliminary investigations indicate that the girl Shifa was one of three children the father had with his first wife, who died three years ago, before he married his current wife a year after her death.
