Khaberni - An unusual incident occurred in one of the private hospitals in the kingdom, where one of the fathers discovered that the girl he had left the hospital with was not his daughter, due to an error in the handover procedures. According to the story narrated by journalist Ghazi Mirayat, the nurses had brought the girl to her parents to see her right after birth, and then she was sent to the premature baby room for necessary examinations. The next day, the father received the girl based solely on the discharge paper, without any verification of identity or the girl’s name. After arriving at home, the father noticed through the medical bracelet that the girl was not his daughter, and he immediately returned to the hospital where it was discovered that the girls had been swapped by mistake; as the father took another family's daughter, while that family received his daughter. The hospital then contacted the other family and explained the details of the mistake, before the situation was quickly rectified. At the end of his talk, Mirayat emphasized the need for hospitals specializing in childbirth to pay utmost attention to the process of handing over children to their families, and not to rely solely on discharge papers without verifying information and identity, to ensure the safety of families and prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
