New York Times Trumps Gulf allies oppose striking Iran

Khaberni - A number of President Donald Trump's Gulf allies have expressed their opposition to any U.S. military action against Iran, calling for the adoption of diplomatic means to avoid potential repercussions on the security and stability of the region.

The "New York Times" reported, according to Khaberni, analysts saying that Gulf countries, despite their differences with Iran, see that military escalation could negatively impact them, especially in terms of threatening their status as safe centers for business and tourism.

The newspaper report indicated that Oman and Qatar are making efforts to mediate and ease tensions, while other countries fear that any power vacuum in Iran could increase Israeli influence in the region, which some Gulf states consider a threat to the stability of the Middle East.
