Khaberni - The director of the Irbid Agriculture Directorate, Abdul Hafez Abu Arabi, said that the Irbid governorate witnessed good rainfall, with the "Al-Wasatiyah" area recording the highest daily rainfall at 20 mm, followed by Maru station with 17.8 mm, and Irbid castle with 17 mm, pointing out that these amounts of rain are a strong boost for the agricultural sector especially since it came with a geographical distribution that covered all the districts of the governorate.
Abu Arabi explained that the rainfall figures recorded until mid-month reflect a significant improvement compared to the same period last year, with the cumulative total in the "Al-Mazar Al-Shamali" area reaching 337.5 mm, achieving the highest precipitation rate in the governorate at 68% of its annual average, while the "Bani Kinana" area recorded a cumulative total of 280 mm, which is 62% of the general average.
He highlighted the difference between this season and the previous one, citing the "Irbid Castle" area which recorded this year 253.5 mm compared to only 92.5 mm for the same period last year, and also the "Al-Ramtha" area, which reached 158 mm compared to 83 mm last year.
He indicated that reaching 20 rainy days is a very positive indicator, which enhances the farmers' hopes for field crops and fruit trees of high quality.
He added, the consecutive rainfalls contribute not only to irrigating agricultural crops but also play a fundamental role in replenishing groundwater and providing natural pastures, noting that the directorate continuously follows the development of the rainy condition to provide the necessary technical support and guidance to all farmers and livestock breeders.
