Dismissal of Burkina Faso Coach Due to Poor Results

Khaberni - On Wednesday, the Burkina Faso Football Federation dismissed the coach of the national team, Brama Traore, after their elimination from the round of 16 of the currently held African Nations Cup in Morocco.

In the group stage, Burkina Faso finished second to Algeria with victories over Equatorial Guinea 2-1 and Sudan 2-0, however, they were ousted in the second round with a clear loss to Ivory Coast 3-0.

The federation explained that this decision came "following results that were considered far below the national team's set objectives for this major continental tournament, which were disappointing and caused great dismay among fans, national football workers, and relevant entities."

It added that "the clear goal before the start of the 2025 African Nations Cup was to reach at least the semi-finals, in line with the positive dynamics and commendable performance achieved by the team in previous editions."

Traore (63 years old) wore the colors of Burkina Faso as a player between 1986 and 1993 and has coached the national team since 2024.
