Khaberni - The total remittances from overseas workers arriving in the Kingdom increased by 4.6 percent during the first 11 months of last year, reaching $4.1 billion. As for the remittances sent from the Kingdom, they amounted to $1.6 billion.
The data shows that remittances coming from the UAE ranked first among total remittances arriving in the Kingdom at 21.8 percent, followed by those from the United States at 19.0 percent, then Saudi Arabia at 18.6 percent, followed by Qatar at 9.6 percent. Other countries accounted for 31.0 percent of total incoming remittances.
As for the outgoing remittances, it appears that Egypt is the main destination for remittances sent from the Kingdom, accounting for 40.4 percent, followed by Bangladesh at 10.7 percent, then the UAE at 5.8 percent, followed by the Philippines at 5.3 percent. Other countries accounted for 37.8 percent of total outgoing remittances.
