Khaberni - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and his Lebanese counterpart Nawaf Salam witnessed the signing of 21 cooperation agreements between the two countries in various fields after they chaired the eighth session of the joint higher Jordanian-Lebanese committee, which was held in Beirut on Wednesday.
Hassan and his Lebanese counterpart previously chaired the meeting of the high Jordanian-Lebanese joint committee, where the meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, mechanisms to follow up on the implementation of understandings reached, and possible future cooperation aspects.
Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Al-Qudah and his Lebanese counterpart Minister of Economy and Trade Amer El Basat presented what had been agreed upon during the preparatory committee meetings held on Tuesday.
Hassan and Salam signed the minutes of the eighth session of the Jordanian-Lebanese joint higher committee's meetings. Additionally, ministers from both sides signed 21 agreements, memoranda of understanding, and cooperative programs between Jordan and Lebanon in various fields, marking the conclusion of the session.
The signed agreements included: the executive program for the memorandum of understanding for industrial cooperation, the implementation program for the memorandum of understanding for consumer protection cooperation, a memorandum of understanding and joint international cooperation in the field of industrial cities, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of social security, a memorandum of understanding for the encouragement and protection of investment, and a memorandum of understanding for the exchange of tax expertise.
They also included a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in digital transformation and information technology, implementing instructions for cooperation in the fields of civil service and civil defense, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the fields of electricity, natural gas, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, the executive program for development cooperation, a memorandum of understanding in the environmental field, a memorandum of understanding in labor fields, and the executive program for the memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation for the years 2025–2028.
Both sides also signed a joint cooperation program between the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) and the Lebanese National News Agency, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the fields of roads, bridges, buildings, housing, and tenders, a memorandum of understanding in the field of railway transportation, an executive program for a cooperation agreement in the youth field, a cooperation agreement in local administration (municipal affairs), an executive program for cooperative education, and an executive program for the cooperation agreement in vocational training, and a memorandum of understanding in the fields of management and public service.
The agreements, memoranda of understanding, and executive programs were signed on the Jordanian side by Ministers Yarub Al-Qudah, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh of Energy and Mineral Resources, Nidal Al-Qatamin of Transport, and Abdul Latif Al-Najdawi, State Minister for Prime Ministerial Affairs.
On the Lebanese side, they were signed by: Minister of Industry Dju Issa Al-Khouri, Minister of Economy and Trade Amer El Basat, Minister of Interior and Municipalities Brigadier General Ahmad Al-Hajjar, Minister of Energy and Water Joseph Saddi, Minister of Public Works and Transport Faiez Rasamny, and the Acting Minister of Education and Higher Education, along with the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Judge Mahmoud Makieh.
An official reception was held for the Prime Minister at the Grand Serail building, where he reviewed the honor guard lined up to greet him, and the music played the Jordanian royal anthem and the Lebanese Republican anthem.
