Khaberni - The Parliamentary Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, during a meeting held on Wednesday chaired by Deputy Ayman Abu Heniah, discussed its work program for the upcoming period, and its legislative and supervisory priorities related to the energy and mineral resources sector.
Ayman Abu Heniah reviewed before the committee members an evaluation of its performance during the past phase, which focused on monitoring national energy policies, evaluating the sector’s performance, studying mechanisms to reduce energy costs, in addition to starting to study the draft laws referred to the committee.
He indicated that the committee, based on a series of tours and intensive meetings with related entities, is studying the introduction of a package of proposals aimed at reducing electricity costs, in light of the different consumption patterns among citizens.
He appreciated the response of the national companies to the committee's initiative, represented by contributing to replacing "Shamosa" heaters with safer heaters, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development and Tkiyet Um Ali, calling on private sector companies to support this initiative as part of their social responsibility.
He clarified that the committee will intensify its meetings and meetings with government agencies, representatives of political parties, and experts, to learn about the challenges facing the energy sector, discuss possible solutions, and come up with practical recommendations that contribute to improving legislation and sector performance.
He referred to the selection of Deputy Jamal Qamouh as a representative and observer of the committee on the committee specialized in monitoring and addressing complaints about the high electricity bills, which was formed by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission.
For their part, the deputies Jamal Qamouh, Khader Bani Khalid, Saleh Abu Tayeh, Qassem Qabai, Islam Al Azazmeh, Rakin Abu Heniah, Iman Al Abbasi, and Mai Al Harahsheh emphasized the importance of the work program being clear in objectives and priorities, focusing on the supervisory role of the House of Representatives in monitoring the implementation of government plans, and ensuring the achievement of national goals in the energy sector, which positively reflects on the national economy and the living standards of citizens.
