Khaberni - The government estimated the cost of the project to establish and operate the light rail between the cities of Amman and Zarqa at one billion dinars, as part of the projects announced in its executive program for the years 2026–2029.
The Hejaz Railway light rail (LRT) rehabilitation project from north Zarqa to the airport will be 60 km long, with an expected speed of 60 km/h.
The government included the project in the transportation sector, as part of efforts to modernize the public transportation system and link it with other transportation systems, according to the document analyzed by "Al-Mamlaka".
Transport Minister Nidal Al-Qatamin confirmed in previous statements that the light rail project is one of the strategic projects aimed at developing the public transportation system in the Kingdom, pointing out its role in improving the quality of services provided to citizens, and reducing traffic congestion between the two cities, in addition to its economic and urban impacts along the project path.
