On the Anniversary of the Death of Judge and Senator Mohammed Samad AlRaqad

Sheikh Ishaq Al-Munayei

Two years ago on this day, I walked heavily towards the funeral to pray over it. Yes, I am an imam of a mosque and pray over many funerals, but this deceased was Abu Ghazi, may God have mercy on him. Despite the pain of loss, there was a comfort in my heart because I knew many good deeds this man had done with his Lord that many people do not know about.

Abu Ghazi was not just a passing figure among the Muslim congregation I knew and interacted with. Indeed, he was a person who left a significant impact on me that I cannot forget, having known him for over 15 years.

Abu Ghazi, may God have mercy on him, was devout and pious, he was among those who prayed Fajr and were known for their charity, commanding good and forbidding evil, and for their virtues and good character, honorable morals, and he was among the people of the Qur'an, reciting and memorizing God’s book, God is the Reckoner.

Abu Ghazi excelled in the judicial system and served as the Chief Justice and was a member in the House of Notables, yet he was humble

gentle, good-natured, and kind. I am not merely saying these; indeed, it is a fact, and there are many instances I could mention.

Abu Ghazi was characterized by a great and profound virtue of patience and forbearance, those who knew him closely can attest to this; he would not delve into any issue trivially.

Nor comment carelessly; whenever he spoke, he carried a dignified demeanor and a calm smile.

Abu Ghazi, may God have mercy on him, always thought the best of people, I witnessed this often from him; he always used to say “God knows best for this reason or that,”

and this trait is rare among people today, and we seek help from Allah alone.

Abu Ghazi lived to be nearly ninety, and he would come to the mosque walking, and was among those who prayed Fajr and was keen on worship.

He was the last to leave the mosque and the first to enter it, and I reckon that he was among those who lived long and whose deeds were good. If I were truly to express what I feel about this man and his contributions, I would greatly prolong...

Lastly, I pray that Allah, the Almighty, may have mercy on him, forgive him, and make him among the accepted ones as He is capable of that, and I ask Allah, the Exalted, to unite us with him among the righteous, as He is capable of that.
