India Accuses Pakistan of Launching Drones Across the Border Flying Over Kashmir

Khaberni - Indian Army commander Upendra Dwivedi accused Pakistan on Tuesday of launching drones over the territory controlled by his country in the disputed Kashmir region, where the nuclear-armed adversaries had engaged in a conflict that lasted four days last year.

Dwivedi told journalists in New Delhi during his annual press conference, "They have been informed that this is unacceptable to us, and please put an end to it."

He added that military operation officials from both countries had talked earlier on Tuesday.

The Indian Army reported several drones flying over border villages under Indian control last week.

Dwivedi commented, "I believe these drones were defensive, trying to fly over (our territories) to see if any actions were being planned against them."

No immediate response was issued from the Pakistani military.

Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan since their independence from British rule in 1947. Both claim full sovereignty over the region situated in the Himalayas.

In May 2025, clashes occurred between the two countries that lasted four days, following weeks after New Delhi accused Islamabad of supporting a deadly attack on tourists in the Indian part of Kashmir, a claim Pakistan denied.

The clashes resulted in the death of at least 70 people, while both sides extensively used drones, along with rockets and artillery.

Dwivedi said, "We are in full alert" along the border.

He noted that many low-flying drones entered the airspace controlled by India with their lights on, indicating about seven planes have flown on Saturday, and two or three on Sunday.

He believed that "they probably wanted to know if there were any gaps or laxity in our defense, any gaps through which they could send" militants.
