Khaberni - Egypt welcomed the US announcement of listing the "Muslim Brotherhood" in Egypt as a "global terrorist entity" specifically designated as (SDGT), considering the decision a critical step that reflects the seriousness and extremist ideology of the group, and the direct threat it poses to regional and international security and stability.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a release that "Cairo appreciates the efforts exerted by the American administration led by President Donald Trump in combating international terrorism and confronting terrorist organizations, in alignment with Egypt's steadfast stance towards the Muslim Brotherhood group, which it categorizes as a terrorist organization based on violence, extremism, and instigation, exploiting religion to achieve political goals."
The statement added that "Egypt, along with the countries of the region, has suffered for decades from the crimes and terrorist acts committed by this group, targeting the Egyptian people including civilians, as well as police officers and armed forces, in a systematic attempt to undermine the country's security and stability."
Egypt affirmed that "this American classification reflects the accuracy and legitimacy of the firm Egyptian stance towards the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group, adopted by the state following the June 30, 2013 revolution, defending the will of the Egyptian people and protecting the national state institutions, facing the organization's attempts to hijack the state and employ violence and terrorism to impose its destructive agenda."
The statement emphasized that "the significant sacrifices made by Egypt in combating terrorism reflect the state's firm commitment to confronting extremist thought and violence, and protecting national security and the Egyptian state's capabilities."
Egypt renewed its commitment to continue its efforts to enhance international cooperation in the field of fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, drying up its intellectual and financial sources, and confronting all extremist organizations that threaten international peace and security, with a commitment to continue coordinating with international partners in defense of the security and stability of Egypt, the region, and the entire world.
