Khaberni - The acting General Manager of the Civil Consumer Corporation, Engineer Issam Al-Jarrah, said that the institution has completed the purchase of all high-quality Ramadan items at competitive prices, and will be offering them in its markets this week.
Al-Jarrah confirmed in a statement to the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) today, Tuesday, that the institution's plan to prepare for the holy month of Ramadan began months ago, through studying the items that are in high demand during the month, determining quantities, and setting appropriate price levels for items such as (dates, qamar al-din, juices, soups, legumes, cream, nuts, almonds, frozen meats and poultry, and fish) and others.
He added: "The institution issued a tender in daily newspapers for the purpose of submitting bids for the varieties and prices intended to be participated with and carefully selected and purchased this year's Ramadan items, as contracts were made with multiple suppliers for the same commodity to provide consumers with different options in terms of type, commercial name, and price".
He pointed out that the institution sent samples of the Ramadan items before offering them in its markets to the examining bodies such as the Food and Drug Corporation and the Standards and Metrology Organization, to ensure that they meet general health conditions, where it was found that the sent samples were compliant and of high quality.
He explained that the institution will offer all Ramadan items in all its markets, numbering 69 markets during the current month, to allow consumers to easily purchase Ramadan items.
Furthermore, the institution, through its promotional plan, has expanded home delivery service, through contracting with (Overat) for fast delivery, to cover 5 governorates including the capital Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Balqa, and Madaba, in addition to the availability of the institution's official application that receives citizen orders from inside the capital Amman.
Al-Jarrah reaffirmed that the institution's mission is built on protecting the citizen from rising prices and maintaining price and quantity balance in the local market, noting that it has a safe strategic stockpile of all goods, especially essential food items.
He clarified that as part of its promotional policy, the institution last year provided discounts and promotional offers on its goods prices at the end of each month coinciding with the disbursement of employees' salaries, where the number of discounted items and promotional offers exceeded 3500 items, including food items and others, with a significant discount rate exceeding 50 percent for some items, providing a purchasing opportunity for consumers at reduced prices and high quality.
He pointed out that the offers included items with a long shelf life of ten days, which distinguishes them from offers that include specific goods and a limited time, noting that the market share of the institution reached 4.6 percent of the sales volume with hypermarkets and supermarkets spread across the kingdom, according to a study conducted by Nielsen for global marketing studies.
He confirmed that the institution is continuing to increase the number of varieties available, to meet the needs and desires of consumers, where the number of varieties currently dealt with by the institution reached 9240 goods available in its markets at suitable prices and high quality.
He also confirmed that, out of concern for the health and safety of citizens, the institution subjects all food and non-food items to laboratory tests at the General Corporation for Food and Drug and the Standards and Metrology Organization, to ensure their quality and fitness for consumption, as it sent over 700 samples last year to those examining bodies, increasing the citizen's confidence in shopping from the institution.
He explained that the institution withdraws local goods from the shelf 45 days before their expiration date, and 60 days for foreign goods, confirming support and encouragement for the local national industry, where the purchasing rate of local goods and materials reached 80 percent excluding goods and materials not produced locally, such as rice, sugar, powdered milk, and tea.
He pointed out that the institution's strategy for the years 2025-2027 includes renewing the infrastructure and updating the institution's markets, where some markets were moved to modern and spacious buildings, in Mafraq, Jerash, Al Shajara, and Bani Kinana, in addition to performing maintenance for markets that are difficult to move, where maintenance was carried out for markets in Al Jubiha, Madaba, Al Bayader, and Ein Ghazal, to enhance the services provided to citizens by providing all necessary facilities, to achieve the best shopping experience.
