Closure of Khameera and Wonanat Streets in Russeifa to Ensure Public Safety

Khaberni -   The Russeifa Municipality, today, Tuesday, preemptively closed Khameera and Wonanat Streets to ensure public safety, due to rising water levels in the Zarqa stream within the Russeifa district boundaries.
The head of the municipal committee, Engineer Hossam Najdawi, told the Jordanian news agency (Petra) that the municipal crews are monitoring all hot spots in the city, especially the course of the stream, where a significant rise in water levels has been observed in most areas. Consequently, the two streets were closed in coordination with the Governor of Zarqa, Dr. Firas Abu Qa'oud, and the district commissioner, Dr. Ayman Al-Romi, who conducted an inspection tour in the district's areas this morning.
Najdawi pointed out that Khameera Street is one of the hotspots as it runs parallel to the stream's course and is constantly exposed to stream water in the winter season, in addition to Wonanat Street, which separates Russeifa and the Marka area under the Greater Amman Municipality, hence they were closed to maintain public safety.
Najdawi urged citizens to be cautious and vigilant, to stay away from valleys, slopes, and the stream course, and to report any emergencies immediately, noting that the municipal emergency teams and operations room have been working around the clock since yesterday, Monday.
