Increase in the number of international students to 55410 during the academic year 2025

Khaberni - Official statistics issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the academic year 2025 / 2026, today Tuesday, revealed a continued increase in the number of international students enrolled in higher education institutions in the Kingdom.
According to data released by the ministry, the total number of international students reached 55,410 students, coming from 119 different countries, enhancing Jordan's status as a regional and international educational destination.
Graphs showed an upward trend in the number of international students over the last six years, with the number rising from 36,789 students in 2020 to 55,410 students last year.
The data clarified that international students constitute 11.5 percent of the total number of students studying in Jordanian higher education institutions.
It also indicated that the number of new international students has doubled by 100 percent over the past five years, with the number of newly accepted students last year about 12,973, compared to 6,307 students in 2020.
Furthermore, private universities and colleges accounted for the largest share of international students, standing at 65 percent with 36,239 students, compared to 35 percent in public universities and colleges with 19,171 students.
In terms of distribution by academic degree, the vast majority of students were in the bachelor's degree stage, accounting for 87.1 percent, with 48,235 students, followed by graduate studies at 9.4 percent with 5,187 students, and then the associate diploma stage at 3.5 percent with 1,988 students.
Regarding nationalities, Palestinian students topped the list of nationalities with the highest number in Jordanian higher education institutions, followed by Saudi, Syrian, and Egyptian students. Meanwhile, the list also included significant numbers of students from Iraq, Arab Israelis, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Indonesia, the Philippines, Yemen, China, and Bahrain.
