Deir Alla municipality works on reducing the flow speed of AlZarqa stream within its areas

Khaberni  -  Dr. Raed Al-Azzab, head of the Deir Alla municipal committee, confirmed that the municipal staff have been continuously working inside the flow course of Al-Zarqa stream since Monday, to reduce the intensity of water flow due to its high speed.
Al-Azzab said on Tuesday that the lengthy extension of the stream, which flows into several valleys before reaching Deir Alla, has led to increased water levels and flow speed, posing a challenge for the municipal staff, according to Petra.
Al-Azzab explained that the measures taken by the municipal staff significantly contributed to protecting residential areas from being overrun by water, noting that the teams worked on opening a new channel during the night and used old escapes to control the large amounts of flowing water.
He added that the specific soil characteristics of some areas in Deir Alla and their inability to store water contributed to the rapid flow of water, confirming that the municipal emergency room had not received any urgent observations.
Al-Azzab pointed out that the water flow in the stream will increase in the coming hours due to rising water volumes flowing into its course, which requires utmost caution, indicating that the expansion and deepening work of the stream's course greatly reduced the speed of water rushing into the residential areas in the western regions of Deir Alla.
