Khaberni - The Department of Statistics released on Tuesday its monthly report on construction activity and building permits in Jordan.
The total area of licensed buildings during the first 11 months of 2025 amounted to 9.12 million m², compared with 8.13 million m² for the same period in 2024, an increase of 12.2%.
The total number of building permits issued was 23,204, compared with 21,708 permits during the same period in 2024, an increase of 6.9%.
On a monthly level, the licensed areas increased from 921,000 m² in November 2025 to 864,000 m² in November 2024, with a monthly growth rate of 6.6%.
On a cumulative basis, the total areas of buildings licensed during the first eleven months of 2025 amounted to 9.12 million m², compared with 8.13 million m² for the same period in 2024, an increase of 12.2%.
The total number of building permits issued was 23,204, compared with 21,708 permits during the same period in 2024, an increase of 6.9%.
Regarding licensing purposes, the Department of Statistics survey indicated that the licensed areas for residential purposes amounted to 7.08 million m², compared with 6.51 million m² during the same period in 2024, an increase of 8.8%, while the area of buildings licensed for non-residential purposes was about 2.03 million m², compared with about 1.61 million m² for the same period in 2024, an increase of 26.1%.
The area of buildings licensed for residential purposes constituted 77.7% of the total licensed building area, and 22.3% for non-residential purposes.
On a regional level, the Central Region accounted for 72% of the total licensed building area in the kingdom for the first eleven months of 2025, an increase of 7.5% during the same period in 2024, while the North Region accounted for 20%, a decrease of (-13.8), and the South Region about 8% a decrease of (-18.4)% compared with the same period in 2024.
As for the relative distribution of licensed areas for residential purposes, the Capital Governorate recorded the highest percentage, amounting to 13.3%, with an area of 0.816 m² per person while Zarqa Governorate recorded the lowest percentage of relative distribution of the individual's share of new licensed residential areas, with 4.5%, and an area of 0.275 m² per person during the first eleven months of 2025.
The area licensed for new buildings and additions to existing buildings constituted 64.8% of the total licensed building area during the first eleven months of 2025, while the area licensed for existing buildings constituted 35.2%.
The total area of buildings licensed for new buildings and additions to existing buildings was about 5.9 million m², compared with about 5.1 million m² during the same period in 2024, an increase of 15.7%.
