UAE Launches the Worlds Largest Ultrafast Charging Complex for Electric Vehicles

Khaberni - ADNOC Distribution has launched the sixth largest ultra-fast charging complex for electric vehicles in the world.

The company also revealed its future plan to establish a rapid electric charging network in the UAE by the end of 2027.

This launch coincides with the start of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, where world leaders gather to discuss the future of sustainable energy and infrastructure.

This achievement reflects ADNOC Group's commitment to shaping sustainable energy solutions, through utilizing intelligence and innovation to maximize positive impact for today and the future.

60 charging points

The massive electric vehicle charging complex is located in Seih Shuaib on Emirates Road (E11) between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and includes 60 ultra-fast charging points capable of charging most electric vehicles from zero to 80% in about 20 minutes.

This complex is the largest in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, and the sixth largest ultra-fast charging complex for electric vehicles in the world, becoming the most strategic step in supporting ADNOC Distribution's ambitious plan to develop a world-class infrastructure for charging electric vehicles on the highways in the UAE.

Starting from this ambitious vision, ADNOC Distribution plans to open 20 fast electric vehicle charging complexes by the end of 2027, of which 15 complexes are expected to be inaugurated by the end of 2026, on the main national highways, enabling electric vehicles to travel easily and over long distances, and supporting the country's goals in transitioning to smart and sustainable mobility.

Sustainable Mobility

Engineer Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, said: "The inauguration of the ultra-fast charging complex for electric vehicles by 'ADNOC Distribution' is a prominent step in implementing the national policy for electric vehicles, enhancing our vision for sustainable mobility at the national level, and it is distinguished by its strategic location on Emirates Road (E11), one of the most vital axes connecting the emirates, providing comprehensive services to road users and travelers between cities."

He added that "by uniting efforts to expand the high-speed charging network, we are working to reduce energy consumption in the transport sector, and support the transformative project 'Global Market for Electric Vehicles', aiming to increase the proportion of electric vehicles to reach 50% of the total vehicles in the country by 2050, besides accelerating the transition toward a green transportation system, which cements the UAE's leadership in the field of smart and eco-friendly transportation."
