Khaberni - Abdul Shakoor Jamjoom, president of the Poultry and Feed Investors Association, stated on Monday that the significant drop in chicken prices in the local market is a result of increased production volumes.
Jamjoom told "Al-Mamlaka" that this reduction in prices has led to major losses in the sector, amounting to about half a million dinars daily, pointing out that the price per kilogram is sold in the market between one dinar to 1.29 dinars, while the cost per kilogram to poultry farmers reaches 1.5 dinars.
He also noted that the rise in feed prices has contributed to increasing production costs, affecting the competitiveness and weakening the potential for exporting the surplus of chickens abroad.
Jamjoom pointed out that the absence of diseases is one of the reasons for the high quantity of chickens available in the markets, stating that between 700 to 800 thousand birds are slaughtered daily in the local market.
