Khaberni - The Attorney General in Qena Governorate in Upper Egypt has decided to detain a worker for 4 days pending investigations after he was accused of causing his daughter's death by starvation inside the family's home in Khuzam village, Qus center.
The decision came after a notification from Qus Police Station about the discovery of a young woman in her twenties deceased in her room, with criminal suspicion surrounding the cause of death, prompting security forces to immediately head to the scene and transfer the body to Qus Hospital for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Initial investigations revealed that the girl's father had locked his daughter in the room and deprived her of food and drink for several days, keeping her chained with iron chains, which led to her death due to starvation.
The forensic doctor was summoned, who performed a medical examination on the body and confirmed that the student died for reasons related to food deprivation, as mentioned in the reports showing signs of stomach decay from severe hunger, in addition to part of the scalp rotting and severe dehydration of the body.
An official report was filed about the incident, and the investigations unit at the Qena Security Directorate began investigations to uncover all the circumstances of the incident and determine legal responsibilities.
The prosecution issued a decision to detain the accused father for 4 days pending investigation until the completion of the criminal investigation procedures.
