Approval of an Agreement to Supply Natural Gas to Syria

Khaberni - The Cabinet decided in its session held on Monday, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, to approve an agreement for the supply of natural gas to the Syrian Arab Republic, between the National Electricity Company and the Syrian Petroleum Company affiliated with the Ministry of Energy in Syria, which will be signed soon.

Under the agreement, the infrastructure of the Kingdom will be used, including ports and pipelines, to import liquefied natural gas from global markets and pump it through the Arab Gas Pipeline to feed power stations in southern Syria to cover part of Syria’s natural gas needs.

The decision included exempting the agreement from all taxes and fees, including customs duties.

The agreement comes within the framework of the fraternal relations between the two countries, and as a continuation of the support provided by the Kingdom to the Syrian Arab Republic in various fields, which supports its efforts in achieving security, stability, and prosperity, and ensuring the interest of its citizens.
