Khaberni - Failed and imperfect haircuts may become a thing of the past, after a startup launched a shaving machine powered by artificial intelligence.
GLYDE company unveiled the new hair shaving machine at the Consumer Electronics Show CES in Las Vegas, describing it as "the world's first smart hair shaving machine". The device aims to enable users to cut their hair professionally, even if they are complete beginners.
The machine relies on "haircut coach" technology supported by artificial intelligence, along with the "automatic grading" feature, allowing complex cuts to be made in just one pass.
After selecting the desired style through a smartphone app, the user passes the machine over their head, and the blades automatically adjust the cutting depth and move mechanically to match the design.
The machine is equipped with sensors that track the user's movement and the angle of the blade, while internal motors automatically adjust the blades' position to ensure the correct length, regardless of the way the machine is held. To ensure cutting accuracy, the user wears a special headband that serves as a fixed reference point to determine where the grading starts.
GLYDE also includes additional safety features; if the cutting angle or speed changes suddenly, the blades automatically retract, and if the machine is used incorrectly, the blades will not operate at all. The machine includes a screen that displays information about the cutting area and blade depth, as well as a spirit level to ensure it is held upright.
Currently, cuts can be chosen from a ready-made library, GLYDE says it has been "tested on various head shapes", but the company plans to allow the uploading of customized templates and derive inspiration from other users' designs in the future. Future updates will also include beard and body hair cutting, along with AI-powered voice control.
It is expected that the machine shipments will start in the summer of this year at a price of approximately 150 US dollars, and will be available through the official company website and a number of online retail stores.
