Khaberni - The Ministry of Interior in the Gaza Strip announced that the director of police investigations in Khan Younis, Colonel Mahmoud Al-Astal (40 years old) was martyred by gunfire from a fleeing car in Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis in the south of the strip.
The Ministry clarified that Astal's assassination "was carried out by agents of the occupation", and that security forces have opened an investigation into the assassination and are working to track down the perpetrators.
The Ministry of Interior did not mention any additional details about the identity of the executors or the motives of the assassination, however, Palestinian sources accused the Abu Shabab group of the incident.
The martyrdom of the director of police investigations in Khan Younis comes about a month after the martyrdom of Ahmad Zamzam, an officer in the Ministry of Interior in Gaza, on December 14, last December.
The Ministry then announced that the investigations showed the involvement of collaborators with Israel in his assassination by shooting him in Al-Maghazi camp in the center of the strip.
