Harsh Criticisms for Jennifer Lawrence After She Gave Up Her Dog That Bit Her Child

Khaberni - American star Jennifer Lawrence faced a broad wave of criticism on social media, after revealing her decision to give up raising her Chihuahua dog, transferring it to live with her parents, following its biting one of her children.

Lawrence's statements, who is 35 years old, came during a discussion session on the sidelines of her new movie premiere "Die My Love" in New York City, where she spoke frankly about how her view of dogs has changed after becoming a mother of two, noting that the incident provoked great fear and anger in her.

She said: "After having a child, my dogs became very scary to me.. I feel like I no longer recognize dogs now, I only see them as a threat," adding that one of her dogs, a Chihuahua named Princess Pippi Longstocking, bit her son, which led her to decide to distance him along with the rest of the dogs from her home.

Lawrence further provoked dismay after using harsh and shocking expressions, jokingly telling the audience that she felt a desire to "exterminate all dogs" following the incident, a statement which many considered irresponsible, especially given her large audience and broad influence.

The controversy quickly moved to social media, where angry comments poured in, with one Instagram user writing, "Don't just give up your dog because you had children, instead teach your children to respect their pet.. I don't like her now."

Several followers criticized Lawrence’s expressions, considering them as contributing to normalizing the abandonment of pets after incidents that could be avoided, and one of them wrote, "It is troubling that she uses a massive public platform to devalue animal life, speaking trivially about harming them."

Conversely, some followers defended the actress, considering that children's safety should be an absolute priority, and one wrote, "We don't know the details of the situation.. If she felt that her children were not safe, a mother should not be blamed for a decision she made to protect her children."

In her talk, Lawrence clarified that the dogs are currently staying with her parents, in a move aimed – according to her statements – to keep any potential risks away from her young children.

Jennifer Lawrence is a mother of two children from her husband, Cooke Maroney, one of whom is Sai, three years old, and another child born in 2025.
