Khaberni - Kuwaiti writer Badr Al-Mutairi has passed away from our world after a long struggle with the illness, in an announcement that caused widespread sadness among his followers and loved ones on social media platforms, especially as the date nears for the broadcast of a series narrating his life’s multiple tragic chapters.
The deceased's family has scheduled the funeral ceremony, which will be on this coming Monday after the Asr prayer in the Sulaibikhat cemetery, where the deceased will be laid to rest in his final abode, attended by his relatives and close friends.
Condolences and prayers for the deceased have poured in on social media platforms, with Kuwaiti media personality May Al-Eidan being among those who mourned him with touching words, writing "He lived his life in suffering and ended in suffering," pointing to the painful irony that the deceased will not witness the series "Years of Darkness" which narrates the details of his life, scheduled to be broadcast in Ramadan 2026 on the screens.
May Al-Eidan said in her post: "His life was strange and his end tragic," while many followers interacted with her statements, praying for his mercy and forgiveness.
Egyptian director Mohamed Salama is preparing to show the series "Years of Darkness" based on the true story of Badr Al-Mutairi, which narrates his harsh experience in prison and the injustice he faced before proving his innocence.
The series revolves around the period Al-Mutairi spent in prison, the severe psychological pressures he faced, the internal transformation that occurred due to the suffering, leading to the uncovering of the truth and proving his innocence, in addition to the psychological effects that continued to haunt him even after his release.
The series features a group of artists from various Arab countries, including Hamad Al-Omani, Khaled Al-Buraiki, Faisal Al-Amiri, Iman Al-Husseini, Shouq Al-Hadi, Rawan Al-Ali, Mohamed Al-Haddad, Abdullah Ziyada, Mashari Al-Majbel, the Bahraini Ahmed Saeed, and the Jordanian Munther Rayahneh, in addition to Egyptian actress Intisar who plays the role of the protagonist’s mother.
The series was filmed in two stages between Egypt and Kuwait, where the entire Kuwaiti central prison was built in Egypt for filming its scenes, before moving to Kuwait to complete the rest of the scenes, in a work written by writer Mariam Naoum’s narrative workshop.
