Khaberni - Anti-government protests in Iran continued for the 15th day in the capital, Tehran, and several other cities, with a decrease in demonstrations and rioting compared to the past days, alongside the ongoing total internet blackout.
The Fars News Agency reported that limited protest gatherings occurred in several neighborhoods of the capital Tehran last night.
It added that the police had fired tear gas in Baharestan area of Tehran province following protests there last night.
Tehran witnessed limited protests in some areas, and due to the internet blackout, sufficient information about the scale of protests in other Iranian cities is not available, according to Al Jazeera.
Dozens killed
Meanwhile, the Tasnim News Agency mentioned that 109 members of the security and police forces were killed in riots in various areas in Iran, while the human rights organization "IHR" reported that 192 were killed in the protests.
In context, human rights organizations have warned that the authorities in Tehran may have committed "killings" in the ongoing protests for two weeks.
The French Press Agency reported that Iranian state television aired scenes of burning buildings, including a mosque, and funeral processions for security elements that the authorities confirm were killed during the protests.
National Mourning
The Iranian government has declared national mourning for three days for those killed, including members of the security forces, during the ongoing protests for two weeks, according to state television on Sunday.
The Iranian president Masoud Bazeshkian has also called on Iranians to participate in a "national resistance march" today, Monday, throughout the country in rejection of the violence committed by "criminal terrorists," as reported by the official channel.
Bazeshkian accused, in an interview with Iranian television, both the United States and Israel of issuing orders to whom he described as rioters, aiming to undermine security, destabilize, and chaos in the country.
Iran is witnessing protests against living conditions in the country for the third week amidst a complete internet blackout, and slogans opposing the authorities were raised in several demonstrations.
