Launch of a New Bus Route in Mecca Connecting AlMasjid AlHaram with Harrah Cultural District

Khaberni - The Mecca Public Transport Project "Mecca Buses" launched a new route connecting Al-Masjid Al-Haram with the Harrah Cultural District, in a step aimed at enhancing the organized connection between religious and cultural sites in Mecca, and to facilitate the movement of visitors and pilgrims within a reliable and effective public transport system.

The new route provides direct access to the Harrah Cultural District, which is a prominent cultural and knowledge destination in Mecca, featuring the Revelation Gallery, the Quran Museum, and a number of enriching facilities, in addition to the route leading to the Cave of Hira, offering a comprehensive knowledge experience related to the context of revelation and the beginnings of the mission.

The launch of this route is part of the continuous expansion of the Mecca Buses network, which currently covers 12 routes, operates 400 buses across 431 stations spanning a distance of 580 kilometers, and has transported more than 188 million passengers via over 4 million trips since the Mecca Buses operation began, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The new route is implemented within the transport system overseen by the Royal Commission for Mecca City and Holy Sites, with the General Center for Transport leading it as the reference entity responsible for planning, organizing, and operating the transport system in Mecca, working to align transport projects with its requirements and the needs of visitors and pilgrims, thereby establishing a governance approach and enhancing the efficiency of connection between vital sites.

The connection of Al-Masjid Al-Haram (the central area) with the Harrah Cultural District enhances the integration of the transport system within Mecca, through providing organized and easy access to one of the prominent cultural and knowledge destinations, reflecting the strategic direction of integrating the cultural and knowledge dimensions into the visitor experience, and improving the travel experience of visitors and pilgrims between religious sites and enriching destinations in the holy capital.
