Jordan reaffirms its full support for the sovereignty of Somalia

Khaberni - State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nancy Nemrouqa participated today in Jeddah, in the extraordinary session 22 of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation regarding developments in the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Nemrouqa confirmed in her speech Jordan's full support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia, its commitment to maintaining the security of Somalia and its people, and its support for the legitimate institutions of the Somali state.

Nemrouqa emphasized Jordan's rejection of any attempts to impose parallel entities that could threaten the unity and stability of Somalia, and Jordan's complete rejection and condemnation of Israel's declaration recognizing Somaliland, in flagrant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter, and a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the unity and integrity of its territories.

Nemrouqa reiterated Jordan's position which emphasizes the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, introducing sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to the region, and linking efforts to achieve stability to a clear political horizon that realizes a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution, and the necessity to combine efforts to stop the dangerous Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank, and to meet the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to an independent sovereign state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
