Iranian President Calls Supporters to Take to the Streets

Khaberni - Today, Iranian President Masoud Bazshkyan called on his supporters to take to the streets and squares after days of increasing protests against his government.

Bazshkyan said in a televised speech that his government is determined to solve the economic problems facing the Iranian people, adding that the government is "ready to listen to the people".

Bazshkyan urged the Iranian people to distance themselves from those he termed "agitators and terrorists". He accused those he called "terrorists connected to foreign powers" of "killing innocents, burning mosques, and attacking public property," in his words.

Bazshkyan reiterated his accusations against the United States and Israel, accusing them of supporting and inciting the so-called "agitators," who have been demonstrating in several Iranian cities for about two weeks.

Bazshkyan stated that Washington and Tel Aviv want to "sow chaos and disorder" in his country, following the 12-day war, and called on Iranians to distance themselves from those he described as "agitators and terrorists".

This announcement comes at a time when a human rights organization reported on Sunday that at least 192 people have died since the ongoing protests in Iran began two weeks ago, protesting against the deteriorating economic conditions and government policies, a sharp increase compared to a previous toll of 51 deaths.

“Iran Human Rights”, based in Norway, said that it verified the killing of at least 192 protesters since the start of the protests, warning that the actual number could be much higher, especially as internet services had been interrupted for several days, hampering independent verification and monitoring processes.
