Minister of Justice Supporting Stability and Building State Institutions in Syria is a Priority

Khaberni - The Minister of Justice, Bassam Talhouni, confirmed Jordan's full support for the efforts of the brethren in Syria, aimed at enhancing stability and rebuilding its institutions, especially the judicial institution, considering it a fundamental pillar for security and societal stability, emphasizing that the stability of Syria positively reflects on the security and stability of the entire region.

This came during a meeting Talhouni held in Amman on Sunday with the Syrian Minister of Justice, Mazhar al-Wais, who is heading a high-level judicial delegation on an official visit to the Kingdom, during which both sides discussed aspects of judicial and legal cooperation and ways to develop them in a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries, and enhances the principles of justice and rule of law.

Talhouni affirmed that the meeting comes within the framework of the royal directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, calling for enhancing joint Arab action and intensifying cooperation with Syria, in the judicial and legal fields, contributing to unifying efforts, exchanging expertise, enhancing justice systems, reinforcing the rule of law, and achieving the supreme interests of the Arab nation.

He added that supporting stability and building state institutions in Syria is a priority, noting that the Kingdom puts all its judicial and legal capabilities and expertise at the service of the Syrian brethren, and enhances institutional cooperation in this field.

He explained that the Kingdom's legal and judicial system is widely respected regionally and internationally, pointing out that the accumulation of Jordanian experiences has contributed to enhancing stability, boosting the confidence of citizens and investors in the justice system, and supporting sustainable development pathways.

He reviewed the role of the Ministry of Justice in promoting the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law, the legislative mechanism in Jordan and the stages that laws go through until they become effective, in addition to the Jordanian experience in developing the judicial system, especially in the areas of digital transformation, digital signing, and automation of judicial procedures, which contributes to faster case resolution and improving the quality of services provided to litigants.

Talhouni emphasized the importance of elevating the level of bilateral relations in the judicial field, confirming the Kingdom's readiness to share its experiences and expertise with the Syrian side, and expanding the horizons of joint coordination in the areas of exchanging expertise, updating legislation, and training and capacity building programs for those working in the judicial and justice sectors.

For his part, the Syrian Minister of Justice, Mazhar al-Wais, expressed his appreciation for the progress made by the Jordanian Ministry of Justice, praising the Jordanian experience in developing judiciary work, affirming his country's commitment to enhancing cooperation and coordination with the Kingdom to support the justice system and exchange expertise between the two sides.

It is worth noting that the Syrian Minister of Justice is on an official visit to the Kingdom during the period from the 11th to the 13th of this month, to explore a number of leading Jordanian experiences in the judiciary field, and to conduct a series of meetings and official visits, including meeting the president of the Judicial Council, His Eminence the Chief Islamic Judge, the Director of Public Security, and visiting the Judicial Institute, and the Directorate of Military Judiciary, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and exchange views on issues of mutual interest.
