Khaberni - The general consumer price index (inflation) in Jordan increased by 1.77% for the year 2025 compared with the year 2024.
On a monthly level, consumer prices increased by 1.31% in December 2025 compared with the corresponding month of 2024, and increased slightly by 0.68% (less than one percentage point) in December 2025 compared with November of the same year.
Accordingly, the general consumer price index for the year 2025 reached 112.67 points compared to 110.71 points for the year 2024.
On a monthly level, the general consumer price index for December 2025 reached 113.22 compared to 111.76 for the same month in 2024, and the index for December 2025 reached 113.22 compared to 112.46 for the month preceding it in the same year.
As for the commodity groups for the year 2025 compared with 2024, the index for the "Personal Belongings" group increased by 22.71%, "Tea, Coffee, and Cocoa" by 10.35%, "Tobacco and Cigarettes" by 10.17%, "Fruits and Nuts" by 9.35%, and "Oils and Fats" by 4.78%. Meanwhile, the index for the group "Vegetables and Canned Dry Pulses" decreased by (4.52%), "Household Tools" by (2.67%), "Furniture, Carpets, and Bedding" by (1.91%), and "Home Appliances" by (1.78%).
On the front of commodity groups, the main contributors to the raise in the general consumer price index for December 2025 compared with the same month of 2024 were principally the groups "Personal Belongings", "Tea, Coffee, and Cocoa", "Oils and Fats", and "Fruits and Nuts". While contributing to the mitigation of the rise were the groups "Vegetables and Canned Dry Pulses", "Meat and Poultry", "Home Appliances", and "Dairy Products, Eggs".
Among the prominent commodity groups that contributed to the rise in the general consumer price index for December 2025 compared with November of the same year were the groups "Meat and Poultry" by 3.81%, "Personal Belongings" by 2.91%, "Rentals" by 2.60%, "Oils and Fats" by 2.27%, and "Sugar and Related Products" by 1.29%.
It is noted that the calculation of the consumer price index (inflation) is based on a basket of consumable materials that includes (850) items including (325) food items and (525) non-food items.
