Foods that limit weight gain even with fat consumption

Khaberni - A study at the University of Utah suggests that beans, lentils, and plum juice may help prevent weight gain, even with a diet rich in fats.

A previous study found that plum juice raises levels of a bacterium called "Torricebacter" in the intestines of obese mice, which researchers attributed to its content of polyphenol compounds that promote the growth of beneficial microbes in the gut.

In the experiment, researchers monitored mice following a high-fat diet for 8 weeks and gave them dietary supplements containing Torricebacter bacterium, found also in human intestines.

According to "Daily Mail", the researchers noted that mice that did not consume the dietary supplements gained about 25% of their weight during the study period.

For comparison, the mice that received the Torricebacter supplements gained only about 10% of their weight.

Dietary supplements containing Torricebacter are not yet widely available, but earlier research suggested that increasing these bacteria in the gut could be achieved through a diet rich in fibers, like fruits and vegetables, as fibers serve as a food source for these microorganisms.

Foods rich in friendly bacteria

These foods include onions, garlic, artichokes, asparagus, cocoa, inulin, and foods rich in omega-9 fatty acids such as: olive oil, avocados, almonds, and cashews.
