Nobel Institute Refuses Machados Talk of Awarding Her Prize to Trump

Khaberni  - The Nobel Institute in Norway has confirmed that the Nobel Peace Prize cannot be transferred from one person to another, shared, or cancelled, in response to comments by Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who indicated that she might grant her 2025 prize to U.S. President Donald Trump .

The Institute stated in a release that the decision to award the Nobel Prize is "final and cannot be appealed," based on the award's regulatory statutes which do not allow for appeal, and noted that the awarding committees do not comment on the actions or remarks of the laureates after they have received the award.

Machado said on "Fox News," on Monday, that the idea of offering the prize to Trump "is an expression of gratitude from the Venezuelan people for the overthrow of President Nicolas Maduro," who was arrested by the United States during a military operation in Caracas last week.

When asked if she had previously offered to give the prize to Trump, she replied, "Well, that has not happened yet."

For his part, Trump said he "would be honored to accept the prize" if Machado presented it to him at a meeting scheduled to be held in Washington next week, affirming that he is looking forward to meeting her.

Trump has repeatedly expressed interest in winning the award, linking it to his diplomatic achievements and his "ending of 8 wars," as he put it, and has expressed dissatisfaction with not having recently received it, directing criticism by saying that "the committee's decision is very embarrassing for Norway, whether it had a hand in it or not."

The U.S. president stated after the Caracas operation that holding elections in Venezuela is not currently on the table, and that Machado is "not qualified to lead the country," pointing out that she "does not have sufficient support or respect within her own country."
