Namrouqa We reject Israeli recognition of Somaliland

Khaberni  - Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nancy Namrouqa took part in the exceptional 22nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation concerning developments in Somalia, which was held in Jeddah on Saturday.

Namrouqa affirmed during the meeting Jordan's full support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia, emphasizing the kingdom's commitment to maintaining the security of Somalia and its people and supporting its legitimate state institutions.

She stressed Jordan's rejection of any attempts to impose parallel entities that would threaten Somalia's unity and stability, pointing out Jordan’s firm rejection and condemnation of Israel's declaration of recognition of the Somaliland region, in a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, and a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and its territorial integrity.

Namrouqa reiterated Jordan’s position, which underscores the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, ensuring the adequate and sustainable entry of humanitarian aid into the area, linking efforts to achieve stability with a clear political horizon that achieves a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, the urgency of concerted efforts to stop the dangerous Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank, and meeting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to an independent sovereign state based on the 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
