Khaberni - US Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack announced after a meeting with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shar' in Damascus, where they discussed developments in the city of Aleppo and the broader trajectory of the transitional phase in Syria.
Barrack pointed out that US President Donald Trump believes that this moment presents a pivotal opportunity to build a new Syria that is a united state treating all sects with respect and dignity.
The US envoy confirmed Washington’s support for the historic transitional phase in Syria, praising the efforts of the Syrian authorities under the leadership of Al-Shar' to achieve stability and re-build national institutions. He also emphasized the Syrian government's renewed commitment to the integration agreement signed with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in March 2025.
Barrack mentioned that recent developments in Aleppo are causing great concern and pose a challenge to the terms of the agreement, calling on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, immediately cease hostile acts, and return to dialogue to prevent escalation.
