Khaberni - Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem announced that the movement has made a clear decision to dissolve the government entities managing the situation in the Gaza Strip, in preparation for handing over the administration to a committee of independents.
In a statement on Saturday evening, Qassem said: "Hamas is ready to facilitate all the details related to the committee taking over its responsibilities and to support its success." He called for "accelerating its formation and starting its work on the ground as soon as possible."
This announcement comes in the context of the agreement announced by the Palestinian factions on October 24th during a meeting in Cairo, stipulating the transfer of the administration of the Gaza Strip to "a temporary Palestinian committee of independents and technocrats from the region."
The factions also called in that meeting for developing a strategy to activate the Palestine Liberation Organization as the "legitimate and sole representative of the Palestinian people."
It is expected that mid-month may be a possible date for announcing the commencement of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, despite major obstacles that have delayed it by about 100 days.
Meanwhile, the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been using the excuse of not finding the body of the last Israeli soldier inside Gaza and insists on excluding Hamas from governance and disarming the resistance.
The movement emphasizes the necessity of "a complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from the Gaza Strip, the opening of the Rafah crossing in both directions, and facilitating the movement of goods into the region."
Forming the "Gaza Strip Administration Committee" is one of the urgent files linked to the implementation of the second phase of the agreement, and it was proposed early by Egypt and centered around establishing "a committee of independent specialists (technocrats)" to manage the region, a proposal welcomed by the Palestinian factions.
The statement likely indicates that "the resistance will continue to exert efforts to address outstanding issues," with confirmation that the "Gaza Management Committee should begin its role immediately upon announcement, in order to serve the citizens under the difficult humanitarian conditions."
