Shocking Medical Scandal in Egypt

Khaberni - In an unprecedented event that caused widespread shock in Egypt, a young man with a Bachelor of Science successfully impersonated his twin brother, a doctor, and practiced medicine for two full years without anyone noticing the deception.

Egyptian Police Forces

The incident began when a nurse working at the health unit in Jaziret Nakla village, affiliated with Shubrakhit in Beheira governorate, filed an official report, stating that she discovered that the person wearing "the white coat" and signing the medical records and treating the locals and children for two years was not the officially appointed doctor, but rather his twin brother who only holds a Bachelor of Science degree, exploiting their strong physical resemblance.

Upon investigation, it was found that the real doctor, "Mohamed M. H.", had received a lucrative job opportunity at a petroleum company, but the Directorate of Health Affairs refused to grant him unpaid leave. Consequently, the brothers concocted a plan: the graduate in science, "Ahmed M. H.", would work at the health unit to retain the government position, while the original doctor would dedicate himself to his new job. The impersonator would consult his brother by phone when medical advice was needed!

Major General Mohamed Amara, Director of Beheira Security, was notified of the incident, leading the security forces to arrest the brothers. During their presentation to the Public Prosecutor, presided over by Counselor Adel Hamouda, they admitted to the full details of the scheme.

The director of the prosecution decided to detain them for 4 days pending investigations on charges of impersonation, practicing medicine without a license, and forgery in official documents. On Saturday, the judge of opposition at the Shubrakhit partial court renewed their detention for an additional 15 days pending investigations.

Following the incident, the Directorate of Health Affairs in Beheira formed a large technical and administrative committee to review all medical documents, records, and tickets signed by the impersonator over the two years, to inventory the cases he examined, and to ensure the safety of patients and that no health damage occurred, in addition to hearing all employees of the unit to determine their knowledge or negligence.

The incident reminded people of the famous comedy film "Keda Reda" starring Ahmed Helmy, where twins exploit their resemblance in fraudulent schemes, but this time it was not a comedy, but a real tragedy targeting the health of citizens.
