Lebanese Government Half a Million Syrians to Return from Lebanon to Their Country in 2025

Khaberni - The Lebanese government announced that more than half a million Syrian refugees left Lebanon in a safe and sustainable way during the year 2025, in a step recorded for the first time since the Syrian displacement crisis began in 2011.

Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Haneen Al-Sayed stated in a post on (X) that, based on data from the General Directorate of General Security in Lebanon, "a return of 501,603 Syrian refugees who actually left Lebanese territory last year was tracked, indicating that their names were removed from the records of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees," she pointed out.

Al-Sayed confirmed that this development is an unprecedented achievement resulting from structured government work and a clear and purposeful policy for managing the return file.

She added that the concerned government committee will continue in 2026 to follow up on the implementation of organized and sustainable returns, in coordination with the Syrian government and international partners, in a manner that preserves the dignity of the returnees and serves the national interest of Lebanon.
