In a small workshop filled with the scent of creative clay, Nasreen Zamra stands out as a young model who has revived the craft of ceramics and pottery with a contemporary spirit and a striking artistic touch, transforming the raw material into works that pulse with beauty and meaning.
Zamra's beginnings with this craft go back to the al-Salt Center for Handicrafts, where she spent three years learning the basics of ceramics and pottery from Italian trainers when the center was part of the Noor Al Hussein Foundation, before it later moved under the umbrella of the Vocational Training Corporation. After years of working in various locations, during which she accumulated practical and artistic experience, she decided to take her most important step by establishing her own workshop to produce ceramics in various types and forms, telling us through it that she is proud of her national heritage.
From her hands, bottles form in various sizes and shapes, serving not only an aesthetic function but also telling a story of continuous patience and passion, reflecting a deep connection to heritage and the ability to re-present it in a modern format. Her works are characterized by inventing ceramic forms that combine creativity and beauty, and she makes artistic tools that carry both aesthetic and utilitarian value at the same time, becoming a part of everyday family life.
Zamra says that her relationship with clay started as a simple hobby, but it quickly turned into a comprehensive artistic project, through which she aims to present a local product bearing a clear humanistic and artistic signature, reflecting the identity of authentic handwork.
She relies on traditional manual techniques in completing her works, with modern touches in coloring, firing, and shaping, giving each piece a unique character that is difficult to replicate. She also ensures that every bottle or artistic figure is an independent piece, reflecting her momentary feeling during work.
Visitors to her workshop find a harmonious blend between authenticity and innovation, where old craftsmanship meets contemporary artistic vision, contributing to the growing interest in the name Nasreen Zamra among those interested in handmade arts and heritage crafts.
With this creativity, Zamra proves that ceramics and pottery are not just a traditional craft but an artistic language capable of expression and renewal, especially when handled by hands that believe in beauty and the value of handwork.
